Like most other businesses the trades also have impact on the environment. We are aware that we have a part to play. As a result, we aim to minimise our environmental impact by reducing the use of harmful oil-based paints.
Traditionally woodwork is painted using oil-based paints, which are of course very durable and strong. However, their is a downside as they contain higher levels of volatile organic compounds. These compounds contribute to atmospheric pollution.
Over the past few years, paint technology has evolved. Less polluting water-based alternatives have become available.
Although we still do use oil-based products on some occasions, we always encourage our clients to opt for the water-based equivalents instead.
Farrow and Ball paints are one example of products we often use.
